TJ Walsh

TJ Walsh is licensed counselor and psychotherapist as well as visual artist. Prior to receiving his M.A. in Clinical Counseling Psychology from Eastern University, TJ received his BFA in Graphic Design from the University of the Arts. TJ writes and speaks about art, culture, faith, and mental health. His work has been exhibited and published internationally. TJ is also on faculty at Eastern University in the Graduate School’s Counseling Psychology department where he teaches Personality and Psychosocial Assessment and Psychopathology. He is a member of the American Counseling Association, The International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy, and the Philadelphia Center for Emotionally Focused Therapy.

In practice, TJ takes a whole-person approach by encouraging individuals to explore their emotions, character, thoughts, and behaviors. He practices primarily from a psychodynamic perspective, meaning that the focus will be on present concerns while also seeking to gain understanding by reflecting on the past; however, TJ takes a more integrative approach as needed. TJ enjoys working with emerging adults, artists/creatives, couples and families, life transitions sexuality and gender identity, faith-based issues and spirituality.
