Body Emergence

Almost all of us experience trauma at some point during our lives: death of a loved one, an abusive or destructive relationship, being bullied as a kid, physical/sexual assault, or a car accident are a few examples of life events that may qualify as traumatic. Trauma Touch Therapy is a hands-on approach that helps those affected by trauma to heal both physically and emotionally.

As a supplement to psychotherapy, it helps patients to remain present in their bodies and experiences rather than utilizing defense mechanisms like dissociation to “check-out” of certain moments. During the treatment, you will often be asked for your permission to be touched in particular ways and/or areas of your body to ensure that you remain comfortable at all times. Treatment does not look exactly the same for each person as every session is tailored to the individual, their specific set of trauma, and personal comfort level in a given moment

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release is a type of massage therapy used to reduce musculoskeletal pain and immobility. This treatment focuses on releasing muscular shortness and tightness with a goal of stretching and loosening the fascia (connective tissue) in the troubled region(s) for increased range of motion and lessened pain.

Myofascial release is a safe and highly effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. Each myofascial release session is performed directly on skin without oils, creams or machinery which allows the therapist to accurately detect fascial restrictions and apply the appropriate amount of sustained pressure to facilitate release of the fascia.

Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese stress reduction, relaxation and healing technique that is conducted by “laying on hands” with the idea that energy flows through us, from human to human. If our “life force” energy is low we are more susceptible to illness and stress; if it is high we are open to increased amounts of happiness and good health.

Reiki is a holistic treatment that affects all parts of you: body, mind, spirit. After even just one treatment you will feel rejuvenated and calm in a way that may often feel foreign to you as an adult.

Reiki is typically conducted with the patient laying down on a massage table with the Reiki practitioner beginning at the crown of the head and eventually moving down all the way to the feet.
